Freehand Tattoos
I open my books to accept requests for freehand tattoos once every 4-6 months.
The next booking round will be sometime in early 2024. Details TBD. WHAT ARE FREEHAND TATTOOS?
Freehand tattoos are drawn directly onto your skin with marker before being tattooed, rather than being drawn in advance and applied via stencil.
WHAT TO EXPECT FOR YOUR FREEHAND APPOINTMENT
Freehands are designed by layering sketches in different colours of marker until we get an outline we’re happy with. There are lots of opportunities throughout this process to make adjustments, always feel free to tell me if things aren’t looking the way you’d like.
My hourly rate does not apply to the drawing time for these appointments so there is no need to rush this part of the process, we can take as much time as we need to get the foundation of the tattoo right. This process does take some patience & trust, but it can be a lot of fun! For now, I’m only comfortable freehanding botanical subjects, so these projects are limited to plants, flowers, fruit, etc. I can freehand *most* botanical subjects. I may make exceptions if you’d like to add birds or bugs to a larger piece - those can be drawn in advance and added to the composition. There are typically no drawings prepared prior to the appointment for freehands, but you are always welcome to send me some reference photos. The best reference photos are photography of the plants you want included (especially if you are wanting a specific look, stage of growth, variety, or angle) or photos of tattoos that I have done. Feel free to point out things you specifically like in my work, or things you don’t like about it. Please refrain from sending other artists’ work as I will not be copying and I stick to my own style. The exception to this is if you need to illustrate a certain placement and can only do this with tattoo references by other artists. |
